CONTEXT

The federal authorities wanted to celebrate the national holiday on 21 July 2024, 2025 and 2026 in an original, modern, warm, unifying and attractive way, both for TV viewers and for the audience on the Cinquantenaire esplanade.

Organise a major festive event in Brussels on 21 July 2024, 2025 and 2026. It had to take the form of a free show for the general public featuring Belgian artists in Cinquantenaire Park in Brussels. The show is broadcast live on the interested national TV channels. The event closes with a DJ set during the fireworks, organised by the Syndicat d’initiative Bruxelles-Promotion. The fireworks had to be integrated seamlessly into the show and also broadcast live.

At this 2024 ‘Belgian Party’ we showcased ten exceptional Belgian talents who performed on the Cinquantenaire stage. We also included our Belgian athletes on the eve of their departure for the Paris Olympics. We created four breathing moments between the musical performances to show videos (2 min 30) in which our athletes answered original questions in a light-hearted tone. Although not physically present, they were an integral part of the event. Our artists were Helmut Lotti, Helena, Mustii, Reinel Bakole, Emma Bale, Omdat Het Kan & Average Rob, Sylvie Kreusch, Youssef Swatt’s, Puggy and, last but not least, Lost Frequencies. The highlight of the evening was the long-awaited performance by one of our great international stars, LOST FREQUENCIES, with an exceptional laser show including 350 light drones, culminating in the traditional fireworks that lit up the hearts of 120,000 spectators, more than a million TV viewers and the sky of our capital.

To meet the brief, we set up a consortium of 3 agencies: LSE (Laser System Europe), THE FRIENDS by Verhulst and d-side group, with hangar as the fourth musketeer, essential to the success of this major event. d-side group and THE FRIENDS handled the logistics and communication, LSE the laser and drone show, and hangar the artists, bars and food trucks.
